Heritage and Public Safety at St. Pat's Parade
Volunteers of the Minoa Fire Department showed out at the 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Syracuse on March 16. Along with the thousands of people lining South Salina Street, our volunteers celebrated the Irish heritage that has influenced Central New York. They proudly rode in Retired Engine 1, a beautifully restored 1953 era Mack Truck and in our recently purchased used 2019 Pierce F550 Mini Pumper.
More than 100 floats and organizations participated in the parade. Minoa Fire Department was joined by working and retired individuals from fire and police agencies throughout Onondaga County, including New York State Police.
Additional fire departments were Syracuse, Cicero, Enterprise Company #1 of Phoenix, Moyers Corners, Mattydale, Clay, Fairmount, Taunton, Caughdenoy, Hinsdale, Liverpool, Baldwinsville, and South Bay.
Their presence demonstrated the importance of fire safety, emergency preparedness, and the volunteer firefighters in the community.
